FAQs

Choose a timer with a compatible WiFi hub if you are building a new RainPoint smart irrigation system and do not already own the required gateway. A timer-only model is better if you already have a compatible RainPoint hub and want to expand your existing watering system. Always check the timer and gateway compatibility before purchasing, because different RainPoint smart irrigation families may use different hubs.

For larger properties or areas farther from your router, look for a RainPoint timer that includes an upgraded long-range gateway. Selected models support communication up to about 250 meters in open areas, while some systems also offer Ethernet gateway connectivity for more stable communication across larger properties or locations with challenging WiFi coverage.

Choose a model with water-flow monitoring if you want to track how much water your irrigation system uses or receive alerts for abnormal flow on supported models. A compatible soil moisture sensor is more useful when you want irrigation decisions to reflect actual soil conditions. Some RainPoint smart systems support both functions for more data-driven garden watering.

Normal Irrigation provides continuous watering for standard lawn and garden use. Interval Irrigation alternates watering and pause periods for more controlled delivery. Cycle & Soak divides watering into shorter cycles so water has more time to absorb into the soil, which is useful for slopes or slow-draining soil. Misting provides shorter, lighter watering cycles for applications such as delicate plants, cooling, or compatible misting setups. Available modes vary by RainPoint model.

Choose a WiFi sprinkler timer if you want remote control through an internet-connected smart irrigation system, especially when you need to manage watering while away from home. A Bluetooth timer is better suited to users who mainly want convenient phone control while they are within local wireless range. The RainPoint collection currently includes both connectivity options, so consider how far from the timer you expect to manage irrigation.
